Media In Everyday Life

When comparing our group media daily activity, we all discovered that our use of media is basically the same. Almost all of us rely on our cellular phone as an alarm clock, a time clock, and as a way to connect with our friends and family all throughout the day. All of us rely on the internet within our work environments as well. We all browse the internet leisurely and use it as a source for gaining news and checking up on worldly and entertainment events. Almost all of us watches television for leisure and for news whether it is on an actual television set or as an online broadcast.

When comparing our groups media use to that of someone from the 1940s, it is drastically different. Obviously cellular phones and the Internet did not exist so people had to use alternative ways to gain information and remain in contact with family. People relied on the radio and newspaper for communication and entertainment purposes and as a way to gain news. Postal mail and telephones were also used to communicate with family and friends. Media has always been important, but access to media has not always been as instant or readily available.
